Summer is almost here and nothing is better than taking a walk with your dog and heading out to get some great ice cream. Walkability has become the new buzz word in cities and towns today. So get out with your dog and walk to get some great ice cream. We’ve linked an article from Thrillist featuring some outstanding ice cream joints around America. We’re heading out to Ted Drewes, the original purveyor of “concrete”. Nothing is better on a hot summer day in St. Louis! But if you want something really special try Serendipity Homemade Ice Cream right here in St. Louis. The flavors are delicious and the owner is a personal friend of ours.

Remember the TV hit show Cheers where everybody knew your name? Small towns and cities all across America have places just like that. Most welcome dogs as long as they stay outside and are well behaved. We have a place just like that in the town where BagSpot is located. And everyone does know our names. We like to patronize our local businesses. It’s what helps communities thrive and grow. And as most of you know who work for cities, towns and municipalities, sales tax revenue is very important to the operation of Parks and Recreation departments. For those who manage properties in these towns and cities, the business community is very important to the desirability of apartment and condo rentals as well. So get out there and find your Cheers. Before too long, everyone will know your name and the name of your dog. While you’re there, though, make sure your local establishment refrains from playing these “worst bar songs”. Even your dog will howl.

The BagSpot Team just returned from a trip to metro NYC. While we were there we had a chance to visit with some of our customers. Those big companies probably can’t do that, some of them are too busy telling you how great they are, how big they are, and big isn’t always better, it’s just big. But we love to combine our travel with an opportunity to reach out to our customers and get to know them. It also gives us a chance to get to know an area from the viewpoint of our customer. NYC and it’s environs can be a very daunting place to visit. So much to see and do. And food everywhere. So to help you narrow down some gastronomic possibilities, we’re going to hook you up to, “The 50 NYC Things You Need to Eat”. There is something on this list for everyone. And if you bring your dog, you can walk the city and enjoy so many different and iconic eating possibilities. There are dog parks, the Hi-Line and Central Park, just to name a few places to get out and enjoy the Big Apple with your dog. Stay tuned for our next adventure.

It’s summer. Hockey is over. Basketball just ended. Baseball hasn’t even hit the dog days of summer yet. So it’s time to get out with your dog and enjoy the park. Dog Park that is. There are wonderful dog parks all of this country. We love talking to people who are just planning a dog park. BagSpot has been instrumental in discussions and planning of dog parks in many locations. So that everyone has a great time at these outdoor locations, we’re tapping into the “7 Rules of Dog Park Etiquitte”.

Food Trucks! While these have been a mainstay in NYC for years, their popularity around the world is growing exponentially. Food Network even has a contest centered around food trucks. Every cuisine is represented by food trucks. And considering the size of the “kitchen” on board these trucks, the quality of the food produced in these restaurants on wheels is remarkable. But now even your dog can get into the swing of food trucks. Heading to Sweden with your dog? If so, then man’s best friend can enjoy the same food truck experience as you. On June 15, 2015, in Stureplan, Sweden, the first food truck for dogs opened its window and started serving our four-legged friends. To learn more read “Sweden Launches Food Truck for Dogs”. We don’t make this stuff up!

There are a number of good 4th of July movies but the one that changed holiday movie openings was none other than “Independence Day”. This is the quintessential good guy/bad guy (bad aliens) movie. Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum, come on! If you didn’t spend your 4th watching repeats of this blockbuster classic on AMC channel, that’s okay. This is as movie to be seen anytime because who doesn’t like a great action movie where the good guys beat the goop out of the aliens. Perhaps you thought you knew everything there was to know about this movie. If so, read this article and see if any of these facts will surprise you. And in case you were wondering, yes, there will be an Independence Day2, without Will Smith. But a good number of the original cast will return. Read more…….

At BagSpot, we love the outdoors. Hiking, biking, walking, running, you name it, we like to do it. It takes time, though, to get in shape to be able to do all those things at healthy levels. “Would you climb Mt. Everest if you weren’t in shape? How about taking a long run if the temperature and humidity were high? It probably wouldn’t be a good idea to do either of those things, and in the same way it would not be good for your dog. It is important to remember that if something is physically challenging for you, then it certainly is for your dog as well.” “Take Precautions before hiking with your dog”

Drinking at a bar with your friends is fun. Drinking at a bar with your friends and your dog? That’s the stuff memories are made of.
